Our 'Summer/Autumn' 2015 Newsletter
Sydney Gardens is the only remaining Georgian Pleasure Park in the country. The Friends of Sydney Gardens (FoSG) feel strongly that this special place should be protected and conserved to ensure the park can be enjoyed by young and old for many years to come.
FoSG are an enthusiastic group who wish to encourage everyone, with an interest in Sydney Gardens, to become a member. The FoSG newsletter will keep you informed of what is happening to your park. A website has been developed and will be regularly up dated http://www.friendsofsydneygardens.org.
If you would like to become a member of FoSG or have any suggestions on improving or maintaining your park, please contact the FoSG secretary Lizzie, email: info@friendsofsydneygardens.org.

Sydney Gardens Steering Group
(SGSG) has now been established to take forward refurbishment and improvements in Sydney Gardens. FoSG worked hard to establish local ownership of the park and a requirement for a partnership group. Being part of the steering group will enable residents and FoSG to have their views heard and be involved in making decisions on all future development of the park. The group is composed of representatives from FoSG, relevant residents groups, the Holburne Museum and local councillors. The SGSG will additionally be looking for funding from other sources. Phase 1 of the rejuvenation of Sydney Garden begun several weeks ago with pruning and/or the removal of some trees and shrubs. Phase 1 will open up vistas in Sydney Gardens and enable the development of more beds for relevant shrubs and flowers. ![]() Network Rail
By the time this newsletter is delivered the lowering of the rail line through Sydney Gardens should be complete. Pruning and landscaping beside the track will be ongoing. Safety features will be added to each foot bridge crossing the line before electrification, a date for which has yet to set.
